Islam isn't just about aesthetics and Monetization.
Your Islam is not a trend. It is not an aesthetic. And it is definitely not a brand.
The purpose of being a Muslim is not to build an aesthetic lifestyle for Instagram. And while there’s nothing wrong with looking put together or using your gifts to create, the problem starts when your entire identity as a Muslim becomes centered around content creation and public performance.
This is not about judgment. This is about direction. There’s a growing pattern where young people are aligning their lifestyle with what the algorithm rewards, rather than what Allah has legislated. The danger is that your focus begins to shift. Your idea of “living Islam” becomes tied to a platform, to content cycles, to external validation, rather than personal growth and worship.
And yes, content can bring income. It can help with visibility and confidence, and even financial freedom. But the Deen itself is not meant to be monetized. Islam is not a product to package, brand, and sell. It’s a way of life. A sacred path. A journey back to Allah.
So ask yourself — would you still live this way if there were no camera? Would you still dress this way, pray this way, speak this way, if no one ever saw it?
The Prophet ﷺ said:
"Whoever migrates for Allah and His Messenger, then his migration is for Allah and His Messenger. And whoever migrates for something worldly, he will have what he migrated for.” (Bukhari & Muslim)
That hadith reminds us that what we build our life around, whether it’s dunya or deen, shapes everything that follows. So if your entire lifestyle revolves around documentation and monetization, then you have to pause and reflect.
Be a Muslim for yourself. For your hereafter. Take breaks from filming your life. If you start to feel distant from your religion unless you're posting about it, that’s a sign to realign.
Islam is not for aesthetics. Islam is not for monetization. Islam is for your soul, your akhirah, and your peace.
For reference, a friend shared this very beneficial reminder with me on the ruling of monetizing your religion. Click here for the link
I hope this brings you closer to living your full life with clarity and being grounded in your fitrah.
Don’t forget to share this reminder with those it’ll benefit.
